Terry Hall Retrospective – 2014
ON Wednesday, January 8, 2014, Terry Hall took to the stage at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London for an all-too-rare live solo gig.
The invite-only Terry Hall Retrospective was hosted by clothing giant Fred Perry on the closing night of London Men’s Fashion Week.
For the show, Terry enlisted the musical talents of fellow Specials’ band mates, Horace Panter on bass and John ‘Brad’ Bradbury on drums.
Joining the trio on stage were Lightning Seed’s frontman Ian Broudie, with whom Terry has co-written a string of hits, keyboardist Angie Pollock, now of Goldfrapp but who worked with Terry on his first solo album Home, and Specials’ trombone player, Tim Smart.
The super-group performed a short set comprising some of Terry’s favourite songs and classics from his own back catalogue, including Sense, a hit for both Terry and the Lightning Seeds, and the Fun Boy Three chart-smash, Our Lips Are Sealed.
The event was filmed by Fred Perry Subculture and you can watch some official tracks here.
And here’s an unofficial video of the band performing The Specials’ hit, A Message To You, Rudy.
